The College of Staten Island has named Tom Krychkowski as its new Interim Assistant Sports Information Director, it was announced today. Krychkowski will begin immediately, taking over the position from Rebecca Faulds, who was recently elevated to the school's Assistant Athletic Director position for Student-Athlete Services position.
A New Jersey native, Krychkowski is a recent graduate of New Jersey City University, where he spent a majority of his undergraduate career imbedded in the sports information and athletics culture.
"We are very excited to welcome Tom to the College," said Associate Athletic Director and Sports Information Director
David Pizzuto. "He is a very bright, energetic, self-starting young professional in the industry with a passion for athletics and sports information."
A business administration major while at NJCU, Krychkowski was a four-year member of the Gothic Knights' men's soccer program, where he earned the school's esteemed Robert L. McNulty Award, given to a student-athlete who embodies the definition of dedication, sportsmanship, competitive spirit and teamwork on and off the field of play. Alongside his illustrious playing career, Krychkowski was also a fixture in sports information at the college, specializing in statistical maintenance and gameday operations with the program.
At CSI, Krychkowski will serve as CSI's primary contact for gameday management and supervision, and will serve as a key contributor to media and public relations efforts alongside organizing athletic scheduling, web maintenance and social media presence. He was introduced to sports information through NJCU Sports Information Director, Ira Thor, who he considers a mentor.
"Sports have been a passion of mine ever since I was a little kid, having played them and having worked in the field during college," said Krychkowski. "I'm excited to continue working in a field that I know and I am happy about a fresh start at Staten Island that will teach me things I have yet to learn and hone in on some of my skills that I have able to work on in the past."
A resident of North Arlington, New Jersey, Krychkowski, 23, is an avid traveler, having taken 26 cruises to date. His younger brother, Tyler, is currently a sophomore on the NJCU soccer team as well.
