The College of Staten Island men's and women's basketball teams will head over to Brooklyn tonight to take on the Cougars of Medgar Evers College. Both teams are still perfect in the CUNYAC and will certainly look to continue that perfection when they take the road. On the other hand the Cougars are struggling this season as both teams combine for a total of three wins. The women claim two of those wins while the men only have the one win, and neither team has a win in conference play. Admission to the game is free, but if you can't make it, tune in to CSI SportsNet to follow all of the action. Michael Baybusky will be live courtside with the call beginning at 5:15pm. The Dolphins have reigned dominant over the Cougars as of late, winning the last seven of eight meetings that goes back to the 2010-2011 season. The Dolphins have also averaged 83.3 points per game against the Cougars over that stretch, and with the way the men have been shooting lately they will hope to surpass their average when they head to the Cougar Cave. CSI'd
Javon Cox,
Bloochy Magloire, and Jonathan Chadwick-Myers will all try to keep playing at a high level. The three players are shooting 50% or better from the floor led by Chadwick-Myers with an astounding 59%. The all-time series between these two teams is 57-17 in favor of the Dolphins.
The women have also have asserted their power over the Cougars, as they have won the last 13 meetings between the two teams. The women have averaged 75.1 points when visiting the Cougar Cave while only letting their opponent average 52 points over this 13 game winning streak. The struggling Cougars are getting outscored by an average of 29 points per game and only putting up 45.9 points per game, well below their normal scoring rate. Their low scoring output can be contributed to their poor shooting of only 27%. CSI's
Melanie Johnson and
Megan Myhre will hope to find their form again against the Cougars tonight as they scored below their average when they played the Lightning on Tuesday. The Dolphins have an astounding record of 38-3 against the Cougars all-time and will look to improve on that number tonight
.
Both of Medgar Evers' teams are struggling this season. The men have a 1-11 overall record with no wins in the CUNYAC, and the women have a record of 2-11, also winless in the CUNYAC. They will try to contend with the Dolphins who are on fire in conference play as the men are 4-0 in the CUNYAC and the women are 5-0.
