All-Time Series: CSI leads, 17-8-1
Last Year's Meeting: Tied 2-2
Players to Watch (CSI): Taking away the 7-0 rout over York, offense has been at a premium against CUNYAC opponents, so the spotlight will be on offensive catalysts
Marcin Klim and
Adrian Cosovic today against the Bulldogs. Klim leads the way with 9 goals, while Cosovic is the team leader with 40 shots. Fellow forward
Dardan Nika has just seven total shots in six games so he will look to get more shots on target in this one. Freshman keeper
Jake Foeldes is once again streaking. He has now not allowed a goal in the last three games, spanning 225 minutes.
Players to Watch (BC): The Bulldogs are averaging two goals per game this season and are led by the 1-2 punch of Valentyn Kharko and Jordy Ortiz who both have registered seven goals on a combined 87 shots, which is 16 shots less than the entire rest of the team combined. Defender Kevin Bresnan is an everyday starter patrolling the back line, while freshman Jerron Streete boasts a .735 save percentage with two shutouts this season.
News and Notes: This has been a very close series in recent years with CSI holding a modest 6-4-1 advantage since 2006. Ironically, both teams have actually had more success on the others' field of late. Brooklyn had won three-straight games at CSI in the series up until CSI was able to take a 3-0 win in 2014. Meanwhile CSI has been 6-0-1 in games played at Brooklyn since 2000. Overall the Dolphins hold an all-time 10-6 record against the Bulldogs in games played at CSI. The Dolphins are out-shooting opponents this season, 223-87, but aside from lop-sided wins against York and Yeshiva, the Dolphins have scored just seven goals in eight games. Both of these teams can be considered second-half teams. Including overtime, CSI is out-scoring opponents 12-2 beyond the first half, while BC has scored 17 of its 22 overall goals in the second frame. Look for a lot of whistles today. CSI and Brooklyn are 1-2 in the CUNYAC in fouls called against them. The two squads are also the top scoring teams in CUNYAC. One area where CSI has a clear edge is defensively. The Dolphins are the top team in CUNYAC, having only allowed five goals all season and have seven clean sheets this season. Brooklyn has allowed 25 goals this year in 30 fewer minutes played.
