All-Time Series: CSI leads 51-12
Last Meeting: Jan. 27, 2016 - CSI won 77-67
Players To Watch (CSI): Frank
Schettino continues to pace CSI in the scoring column, averaging 20.8 points per game, adding a team best 23 assists and eight steals. Fellow senior
Khaleeq Baum is next in line at 11.8 points and a team-best 6.0 clip in rebounds per game. Baum has also collected 13 of his 24 total rebounds on the offensive glass. Junior
Edin Bracic is the deep threat for the Dolphins, as he has canned 9 three-pointers on 42% shooting from behind the arc.
Players To Watch (JJC): The Bloodhounds have three players averaging in double-digits in the scoring column, led by
Essien Epps' 12.8 per clip. He also leads the squad with 6.8 rebounds per game, averaging just over 34 minutes per contest.
MiKing Richardson is averaging 11.3 per game go with a team-best 12 assists, while Tyrone Dennis is at an even 11 points per contest in just under 26 minutes played per game. Wyatt
Harkins averaging 9.3 points per game and is a hot 7-11 from downtown, good for 64%.
News & Notes: CSI has won 11 of the last 12 meeting over JJC overall and have won the last seven meetings here at the Sports & Recreation Center dating back to 2010. CSI has won the last four meetings by double-digits and will look to expand on an all-time 26-3 home record over the Bloodhounds. Meanwhile, John Jay has lost six-straight on the road dating back to last year, a streak that started with their visit to CSI a year ago in January. CSI is also 1-0 at home this season and have won five of their last six games here at home dating back to last season. The Dolphins like their
CUNYAC games to be low-scoring. They are 16-2 in
CUNYAC games since 2014 when they have held their opponents to 75 points or less. When
CUNYAC schools have scored more than 75 it has spelled trouble, as the Dolphins are just 6-8 in those games. CSI is now 18-3 (.857) dating back to last year when shooting better than 45% from the field, but are just 1-7 (.125) in that same time when they fall under. Three-point shooting is a telling stat for John Jay. In all three of their wins last year, the Bloodhounds shot over 40% from the arc. Conversely, the Bloodhounds have lost their last 21 games when they have failed to shoot over 40% from downtown.
