All-Time Series: CSI leads, 43-22
Last Meeting: December 3, 2019, CSI won 96-51
Players to Watch (CSI): The offensive numbers for the Dolphins have steadily improved throughout the season beginning with their leading scorer
Megan McEwan who continues to work her way towards 40% from the field and is sitting at 35% from the three-point line while averaging 14.2 points per game.
Jada Rogers is also averaging double-figures with 10.1 per game and
Diana Todaro is approaching double-digits as well with 9.4 per game. Todaro has also grabbed a team-leading 10.6 rebounds per game and is shooting 48.5% from the field which leads the team as well.
Kayla Schmitter,
Deidre Foster and
Kristina Arvelo are all scoring over 8 points per game as well, and Foster is also pulling down 7.3 rebounds per game. At the same time, she has shot 47.7% from the field joining Todaro, Rogers and Brainna Robisky as the three qualifying Dolphins shooting over 40% from the floor.
Players to Watch (CCNY): The Beavers are led in scoring by Reilly Boehm who has averaged 27.2 per contest through her team's first eighteen games, and her 33.4% shooting is good for the team lead. However, Tianna Fumasoli is the only other Beaver who has eclipsed the ten points per game mark with 14.1. Melanie Torres and Harlean Williams have been the team's biggest contributors on the boards with 8.6 and 7.4 per game respectively. This group will be key in slowing down a red-hot Dolphins team that comes in looking for their sixth straight win.
News & Notes: The Dolphins have won seven straight games against the Beavers dating back to December of 2016 with only one of those games being decided by fewer than thirteen points. Last season, the Dolphins hosted the Beavers at The Tank in what was easily the most competitive of the recent meetings between the two sides in recent memory when they escaped with a 63-58 over CCNY. The Beavers do not return a single starter from that game while the Dolphins graduated three, but CSI saw three freshmen, Rogers, Foster, and Arvelo score double-digits in the first meeting between the two teams this season. Fumasoli and Boehm also combined for 39 points for the Beavers in the matchup, but they only shot 11-41 from the field in the lopsided defeat. The current Dolphins' winning streak is still far short of the previous CSI winning streak against the Beavers which spanned 19 years and 27 CSI victories, a streak that was snapped in 2016.
What's Next?: Next up for the Dolphins is their second meeting of the season with the Cougars of Medgar Evers. That game will be the second of a Saturday doubleheader at The Tank and will follow the Men's Basketball Alumni Game and the Men's Basketball matchup against the Cougars.
