GAMEDAY: SOFTBALL OPENS PARTICIPATION IN THE SPRING GAMES AGAINST WAYNE STATE COLLEGE AND LYNN UNIVERSITY

Clermont, FL – The College of Staten Island Softball Team begins their eight-game Florida trip today at The Spring Games. In their first game of the day, they take on Wayne State College at 2 PM. Next up at 4:30, they Dolphins will face Lynn University. The Dolphins come into today's games 2-0 on the season. Wayne State enters action 1-10 and will be facing the Dolphins in their second of two games on the day. Lynn comes in 10-9 on the season and will also be playing their second game of the afternoon when they face the Dolphins.

The Dolphins began their season as the road team playing on their home turf at the CSI Softball Complex on Friday. They scored 16 total runs across the two games of the doubleheader, their second highest output in a single doubleheader since the start of last season. They picked up a sweep of Alliance University winning the first game 8-0 and the second game 8-1. Wayne State last played yesterday in a pair of games at the Legends Sports Complex losing to both Northwood and Saint Anselm College. The Fighting Knights last played on Saturday and split a conference doubleheader against SSC Rollins College.

The Dolphins got their season off to a great start both at the plate and in the circle on Friday against the Warriors. Offensively Alyssa Acosta debuted with 4 hits, Amelia Funston debuted with 3 hits, and both Anissa Acosta and Avery Mochrie finished with 3 hits each. In the circle, Alexis Miramontes and Alexandra Frenza combined to allow just a single run and each picked up a win in the team's first doubleheader of the season.

Today's games will be played in the Legends Sports Complex in Clermont, Florida. After today's two games, the Dolphins will play the remainder of their Florida games at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg.
