SPARKILL, NY – The College of Staten Island softball team secured the No. 4 seed in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament for the first time in its Division II history following a game two victory over Mercy on Saturday. The Dolphins will open postseason play on Thursday afternoon against No. 1 seed and host St. Thomas Aquinas College, with first pitch set for 12:00 PM in Sparkill, NY.

Regular Season Series Recap
The Dolphins faced the Spartans four times during the regular season, with St. Thomas Aquinas completing a 4-0 series sweep. The final two meetings came on May 1 in Sparkill, where CSI fell 9-0 in five innings in game one before battling in a 4-1 loss in game two. Bridget Motley provided the highlight in the second contest, hitting her first home run of the season for the Dolphins' lone run of the day.

Team Comparison
St. Thomas Aquinas enters the tournament as the top seed for the second consecutive season, finishing 18-2 in conference play and 30-12 overall. The Dolphins, seeded fourth, closed the regular season at 8-12 in ECC play and 13-21 overall. The eight conference wins mark a program best for CSI since transitioning to Division II.

Individual Leaders
Madilyn Paul and Abbie Morris have paced the Dolphins down the stretch and were both named to the All-ECC Second Team. Morris leads the team with a .385 batting average, totaling 37 hits and nine RBI, while Paul is hitting .364 with 28 hits, including 10 doubles. Aliveah Warner ranks third on the team with a .314 average, leading CSI with 12 doubles and 18 RBI.

In the circle, Marena Grenier has delivered a standout season, posting a 3.97 ERA over 116.1 innings with 76 strikeouts. Her strikeout total sets a new Division II single-season program record.

The Spartans feature the ECC Rookie of the Year, a standout pitcher who posted a 3.17 ERA across 132.1 innings with 16 wins in her debut season. Offensively, St. Thomas Aquinas is led by a .440 hitter with 52 RBI, while another key contributor is batting .383 with 54 hits, 15 RBI, and 18 stolen bases.
