GAMEDAY: SOFTBALL VISITS BUFFALO FOR TWO BIG GAMES AGAINST D'YOUVILLE

4/14/2023 8:00:00 AM

Buffalo, NY - The College of Staten Island Softball Team plays two of their most important games of the season this morning as they travel to Buffalo for a conference doubleheader against D'Youville University.  The Dolphins enter today's games 11-27 on the season and 3-9 against the East Coast Conference.  D'Youville enters play 10-22 on the season and 4-6 against the conference.  The Dolphins took the win in both games against the Saints at the CSI Softball Complex earlier this season.  Despite those two losses, D'Youville still holds a 7-3 lead in the all-time series.

The Dolphins played Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader against Adelphi University and dropped both games to the Panthers.  The Dolphins came up just one run short in game one, but they were shut out in game two, 7-0.  The Saints last played on Wednesday as well and also were swept in a pair of games against Mercyhurst.

The Dolphins struggled for offense on Wednesday against Adelphi, but CSI scored nine times across two games when they faced the Saints earlier this season.  Six Dolphins had multiple hits in game two against D'Youville and Mariah Carcano, Anissa Acosta, and Victoria Whalen all had two multiple hit games.  Alexis Miramontes allowed just one run in her game one start, and both she and Alexandra Frenza pitched in both games of the doubleheader.

It was a big day for Hannah Bardeen against the Dolphins earlier this year and she comes into today's games leading the Saints in batting average and RBI.  In the circle, Lauren Booth pitched very well against the Dolphins in her start, but that was not enough to secure a win against the Dolphins.  Sarah Parzych comes in as the team leader in ERA, but the Dolphins scored three times on nine hits against her in a four-inning start earlier this season.

Location - Buffalo, NY
