GAMEDAY: SOFTBALL BREAKS FROM CONFERENCE PLAY FOR MATCHUP WITH CHESTNUT HILL

Philadelphia, PA - The College of Staten Island Softball Team returns from three days off this afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader against Chestnut Hill College at 2 PM. The Dolphins enter today's games with a record of 8-18 on the season and the Griffins come in 2-25. The two teams have faced one another just once in a game won by the Dolphins last season at The Spring Games.

The Dolphins last took the field on Thursday against St. Thomas Aquinas in the last of three straight conference doubleheaders. In game one, the Dolphins took an early 3-0 lead, but the Sprtans scored six of the last seven runs in a 6-4 STAC victory. In game two, the CSI bats went cold and the pitching staff could not slow down the Spartan offense in an 11-0 loss. The Griffins last played yesterday in a doubleheader with former ECC member the University of Bridgeport. After picking up a 7-1 win in game one, Chestnut Hill lost game two 6-4.

Mariah Carcano and Alyssa Acosta are currently the only Dolphins hitting above the .300 mark, but Amelia Funston is coming off her best week of the season in which she finished hitting .421. Anissa Acosta's 21 RBI's lead the Dolphins and Elizabeth Moore has double-digit RBI's batting out of the middle of the CSI lineup with 10. Alexandra Frenza and Alexis Miramontes have logged most of the innings for the Dolphins this year combining to account for seven wins. The Griffins are led in hitting by Skyler Cunningham who is batting .262 on the year, and as a team, Chestnut Hill comes in hitting just .176 as a unit. In the circle, they have pitched to an 8.92 ERA with three pitchers each working a share of the innings.
