GAMEDAY: SOFTBALL FACES MERCY ON SENIOR DAY WITH PLAYOFF SPOT ON THE LINE

Staten Island, NY - With a spot in the East Coast Conference playoffs on the line, the College of Staten Island Softball Team will host a Senior Day doubleheader against Mercy University today at noon. The Dolphins come in 14-30 on the year and 6-12 in conference play after suffering a sweep at the hand of Saint Thomas Aquinas College yesterday. The Mavericks enter today's games 13-25 on the season and and are7-11 in conference play. The Mavericks took two from the Dolphins earlier this season in a pair of high-scoring games in Dobbs Ferry. This earned Mercy the tiebreaker over the Dolphins should the teams finish with the same record. However, with one game separating the two teams and two games to play against one another, this will not be possible. Mercy has the easier road to the playoffs needing just one win to clinch a playoff spot. The Dolphins must win both game to overtake Mercy in the ECC standings and earn a spot in the postseason.

Ahead of game one, the Dolphins will honor their three seniors who will all be playing in their final games at the CSI Softball Complex. Kelsey Strayer, Victoria Whalen and Elizabeth Moore will each be recognized ahead tomorrow's doubleheader as their team looks to reach the postseason for the first time as a Division II program.
