DOBBS FERRY, NY – The College of Staten Island softball team travels to Dobbs Ferry on Friday afternoon for an East Coast Conference (ECC) doubleheader against Mercy University.
2025 Meeting Recap / All-Time Series
The Dolphins were swept in a four-game series against the Mavericks in 2025, dropping both doubleheaders. Their strongest showing came in the opener of the second doubleheader in Staten Island, when CSI jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning.
Mercy chipped away with runs across multiple innings before CSI added another in the fifth to maintain a narrow edge. However, a three-run sixth inning by the Mavericks proved decisive, as they pulled ahead for a 7-6 victory.
CSI currently trails the all-time series, 15-5, and enters Friday on a five-game skid against Mercy. The Dolphins' last win in the series came in 2024, a 5-1 victory at home.
Team Comparison
Following last week's action, St. Thomas Aquinas sits atop the ECC standings at 6-2, while CSI holds second place at 4-2. Mercy, having played two additional games, is close behind at 5-3 and in third place. Friday's doubleheader carries added significance, as both teams look to solidify their position among the top contenders in the conference.

Abbie Morris and Milene Mendoza have led the Dolphins offensively in recent games. Morris tops the team with a .418 batting average, collecting 23 hits, eight RBI, and two doubles. Mendoza is batting .400 and leads the team with a 1.104 OPS. Aliveah Warner has also been a key contributor, posting a 1.022 OPS while tying for the team lead with 24 hits and driving in a team-best 11 runs.
In the circle, Marena Grenier is putting together a standout season, holding a 3.36 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 56 strikeouts across 73.0 innings pitched. She currently ranks third in the ECC in both ERA and strikeouts. Grenier recently surpassed the 100-career strikeout mark against D'Youville and enters Friday's matchup with 102 career strikeouts.
