SPARKILL, NY – The College of Staten Island softball team is on the verge of clinching its first-ever East Coast Conference (ECC) postseason berth since transitioning to Division II, as it enters the final two regular season games this weekend. The Dolphins begin Friday afternoon with a conference doubleheader against St. Thomas Aquinas College.

April 11, 2026 Meeting Recap
In the teams' first meeting this season, the Spartans swept the Dolphins in a doubleheader. St. Thomas Aquinas secured an 8-0 win in five innings in game one, followed by a 6-2 victory in game two.

In the second contest, CSI broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning when Emily Reilly and Presley Borne reached base with singles. Jianna Lopez delivered a two-RBI triple to score both runners, accounting for the Dolphins' only runs of the day. Lopez led the team with two RBI, while Emma O'Neill, Taryn Judson, Borne, and Reilly each recorded a hit.

Team Comparison
The Spartans have already clinched the No. 1 seed in the ECC postseason and enter Friday's doubleheader with a 16-2 conference record, holding a four-game lead over second-place Mercy University.

The Dolphins are currently in contention for the No. 4 seed and are in strong position after securing the regular season series over Molloy University, 3-1. CSI holds a 7-9 conference record through 16 games and will look to clinch a playoff spot over the final two days of the regular season, beginning with the Spartans and concluding with Senior Day against Mercy on Saturday.

Individual Leaders
Madilyn Paul leads the Dolphins offensively with a .388 batting average and a 1.140 OPS, totaling 26 hits, nine doubles, and eight RBI. Abbie Morris follows closely with a .386 average, a team-high 32 hits, and nine RBI. Aliveah Warner ranks third with a .341 batting average and leads the team with 16 RBI and 11 doubles.

In the circle, Marena Grenier has been a consistent force, posting a career-best 4.01 ERA across 101.1 innings with 71 strikeouts. She ranks among the ECC's top performers, placing sixth in ERA and opponent batting average (.299), seventh in innings pitched, fifth in strikeouts, and sixth in wins. Kennedie Ruth holds a 6.56 ERA with 40 strikeouts, while Emma Powell has contributed in recent appearances with a 2.63 ERA.

St. Thomas Aquinas is led by one of the conference's top hitters, who ranks third in the ECC with a .434 batting average and a .783 slugging percentage, along with 56 hits, 48 RBI, 12 home runs, and nine doubles. Another key contributor is batting .390 with 53 hits and 15 RBI, while a third standout is hitting .368 with 49 hits and a team-high 15 doubles.

In the circle, the Spartans feature one of the top pitchers in the conference, ranking third in the ECC with a 3.37 ERA, along with 13 wins and 68 strikeouts.
