STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island softball team is in the midst of a historic 2026 campaign. Following a walk-off victory over Mercy last Saturday, the Dolphins clinched their first-ever East Coast Conference (ECC) postseason berth in the Division II era.
Along with the milestone, the Dolphins earned All-ECC recognition in two positions. Abbie Morris (outfield) and Madilyn Paul (catcher) were both named to the All-ECC Second Team after standout regular seasons.
Morris, who joined the program ahead of the 2026 season, made an immediate impact. The junior finished the regular season with a team-leading .385 batting average, ranking sixth overall in the conference, while also leading the team with 37 hits. She put together a seven-game hitting streak from Mar. 20 through Mar. 27, recording at least one hit in each contest. Her top performance of the season came during a Mar. 10 doubleheader against Chestnut Hill, where she went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Morris made an immediate impact upon her arrival ending the year leading the team in batting average
Paul put together a career-best season in 2026, emerging as one of the team's most consistent offensive threats. The sophomore finished with a .364 batting average across 30 games, totaling 28 hits, including 10 doubles and one triple, while driving in eight runs. She also posted a .519 slugging percentage and a .457 on-base percentage. Her production placed her among the conference's top performers, ranking fifth in on-base percentage, 10th in OPS (.976), and 11th in stolen bases.
Paul also delivered in a defining moment of the season. In Saturday's matchup against Mercy, she scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch, aggressively racing home to secure a 6-5 extra-inning victory and clinch the program's first ECC postseason berth in the Division II era.
